Infrastructure projects underway in Wieliczka and Rzochów

Major road infrastructure projects are progressing in different parts of Poland. In Wieliczka, construction of a new junction on national road DK94 is 65 percent complete. The project includes a 65-meter viaduct, which is 80 percent finished, and a new bridge over the Seraf river, which is 90 percent complete. Once finished, the new layout will replace existing traffic lights with a viaduct and a roundabout to alleviate congestion between Wieliczka, Krakow, and Bochnia. Daily traffic on Krakow Street is estimated at approximately 21,500 vehicles.

In Rzochów, controversy has emerged regarding the planned COP Trail route. Mielec County Starost Kazimierz Gacek proposed a route that includes a four-lane bridge over the Wisłoka river and a roundabout near a local cemetery. Mariusz Mazur, chairman of the Rzochów Neighborhood Council, stated that residents were not properly consulted regarding a project of this scale. Mazur clarified that while residents had previously discussed smaller-scale county road improvements, they had not been informed of the high-traffic national road parameters currently being proposed.
