Infrastructure removal operations underway in Spain
In the region between Dénia and Xàbia, near the Montgó Natural Park, a helicopter-assisted operation is underway to remove decommissioned high-voltage electricity towers and lines. Workers from FCC (Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas) are preparing the structures for transport, which are then airlifted via steel cable to provisional collection points. Following the completion of work in the Les Planes area, the operation is scheduled to move to Pedreguer.
Separately, in Sierra Espuña, a project is removing 12 disused infrastructures across the municipalities of Alhama de Murcia, Totana, and Mula. This initiative, with a budget of 276,380 euros, targets abandoned buildings, tanks, and fences to improve safety in public areas. The project is 60% funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (Feder) and 40% by the Autonomous Community. The works involve removing approximately 1,878 cubic meters of waste and restoring the terrain to its natural state.
