Infrastructure repairs and road collapses reported in Indonesia

Infrastructure challenges are impacting road access in several Indonesian regions. In Grobogan, Central Java, repair work has commenced on the North Ring Road (Jalingkut) in Purwodadi. The project, funded by a 1.8 billion IDR regional budget, aims to fix severe damage at specific points, particularly those prone to deterioration during rainy seasons. The project includes repairs to the Lusi Bridge and is expected to take 112 days, during which certain sections of the road will be closed to ensure safety.

In West Sumatra, heavy rainfall caused a significant road subsidence in Padang Koto Gadang, specifically in Jorong Sungai Taleh, Nagari Baringin. The collapse, measuring 20 meters long and 4 meters wide, has completely severed the route toward Bukittinggi, forcing traffic to be diverted through Simpang Patai toward Palupuh. Local authorities, including the Agam Regency Government and the West Sumatra Public Works Department, are coordinating efforts to address the damage using heavy machinery. Residents and travelers have been advised to remain vigilant in landslide-prone areas.
