Infrastructure projects cause transport disruptions in Czechia and Slovakia

Various infrastructure projects and maintenance works are causing widespread transportation disruptions across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In Prague, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) is beginning construction to connect the future Olšanská – Habrová tram line to the existing network. This work, occurring at the Olšanská and Jana Želivského intersection and the Spojovací loop, will cause significant tram service interruptions and diversions through October 2026. Additionally, a major reconstruction of Plzeňská Street has concluded, with full traffic expected to return by August 30.

In the Zlín Region, road repairs are underway in Jasenice, Perná, and Valašská Bystřice, involving over 3.7 kilometers of roadway. These works will require shuttle traffic and traffic lights. In Slovakia, railway reconstruction near Bratislava Main Station will lead to significant changes for train services, including rerouting several lines to Bratislava-Nové Mesto from September through December 2026. In Nitra, authorities are also actively removing abandoned vehicles to clear public parking spaces.

Other localized disruptions include roadwork in Dobříš, sidewalk and road repairs in Sereď, and various municipal construction projects affecting bus stops and local road access in several Czech municipalities.
