Infrastructure repairs underway on major flyovers in UK and India

Major infrastructure repair projects are underway on key highway structures in the United Kingdom and India.

In the UK, National Highways is conducting essential structural repairs, waterproofing, and barrier upgrades at the M4/M5 Almondsbury Interchange. The project involves two phases of 24/7 closures. Phase 1 will affect the M4 Westbound from 11 October 2026 to 4 December 2026, while Phase 2 will impact the M4 Eastbound from 13 December 2026 to 19 February 2027. Additionally, a full weekend closure of the M5 Junction 14 is scheduled from 30 October to 2 November 2026.

In Coimbatore, India, officials from the State Highways Department's National Highways wing have begun repairing damaged expansion joints on the GN Mills flyover on Mettupalayam Road. The repairs, which include replacing and welding broken steel bars, were initiated following motorist concerns regarding safety and loud metallic noises caused by the deteriorating joints.
