Infrastructure South Africa hosts sustainable development symposium
The 5th Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA) has commenced in Cape Town, convened by President Cyril Ramaphosa. The event focuses on the theme ‘Shaping the future of municipal infrastructure’ and aims to strengthen government capacity for building resilient and sustainable municipal systems.
During the symposium, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Infrastructure South Africa (ISA), the National Building Institute (NBI), the Infrastructure Technical Assistance Facility (ITAF), and Zutari. This agreement is intended to enhance collaboration and support infrastructure projects across the country.
Mameetsi Masemola, Head of Infrastructure South Africa, noted that the agency’s mandate includes identifying and prioritizing strategic infrastructure, preparing projects for bankability to attract public and private financing, and coordinating the national pipeline of priority projects. The symposium brings together policymakers, investors, and technology innovators to address systemic delivery challenges and advance international partnerships.
