Infrastructure updates: Elche walkway costs rise as Seville begins new bridge construction

In Elche, the Altabix pedestrian walkway over the railway tracks has seen a cost increase, reaching a final price of approximately 3.2 million euros. The project, which connects the E-4 and E-20 sectors, was originally budgeted at 2.8 million euros. The municipal government approved a modification of 334,736.29 euros to cover the additional costs. The construction, executed by Pavasal Empresa constructora, faced delays due to requests for privacy improvements from nearby residents and pending load tests from Adif.

Meanwhile, in Seville, construction has begun on the Infanta Leonor walkway as part of the Vera Sevilla macro-project at the former Altadis tobacco factory. This 5.3 million euro investment aims to connect Los Remedios with the city center. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma and engineering firm Fhecor, the 141.59-meter-long structure is expected to take 16 months to complete. The Seville-based construction company Martín Casillas will handle key civil works, including foundation and structural support.
