Infrastructure updates in Alytus and on the A1 highway in Lithuania

Significant transportation infrastructure developments are underway in Lithuania. In Alytus, traffic has resumed at the intersection of Kauno and Sanatorijos streets following the installation of a new roundabout. While motorists can now use the intersection, construction crews are continuing environmental landscaping, pedestrian and bicycle path installation, and street lighting work. The project, valued at 1.83 million euros, is funded by the European Union, the Alytus municipal budget, and the Road Maintenance and Development Program.

On the A1 Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda highway, traffic patterns are changing due to the reconstruction of the bridge over the Kruna river. As of October 31, traffic heading toward Kaunas is being redirected onto a newly completed two-lane bridge. This allows for the dismantling of the temporary bridge, which was the longest of its kind in Lithuania. Although the permanent bridges are built, final works including road surface finishing and signage are still in progress, and motorists are advised that traffic organization may continue to change.
