Infrastructure updates: New bridge bidding in Arroio do Meio and delays in Bento Gonçalves

Infrastructure developments are underway in Rio Grande do Sul, involving new construction and delayed repairs for regional bridges.

In Arroio do Meio, the municipal government has initiated the bidding process for a new bridge on João Antônio Rauber Street in Rui Barbosa. The project, estimated at R$ 948,354.00 using state funds, features a 16-meter span and a width of 9.45 meters. Designed for climate resilience, the bridge will be built above flood levels to provide an alternative route between Rui Barbosa and the municipalities of Dona Rita, Bela Vista, and Arroio Grande. The project also includes paving works funded by federal and state resources.

Meanwhile, the renovation of the bridge over the Rio das Antas on the RS-431, connecting Bento Gonçalves and Cotiporã, has been postponed. The State Court of Accounts (TCE-RS) ordered an independent expert assessment of the structure before work can proceed. This follows damage caused by heavy rains in July, which resulted in a 20-centimeter displacement in the bridge's structure. The R$ 655,000.86 repair project is being split equally between the two municipalities, with work expected to begin in the second half of September following the technical analysis.
