Infrastructure updates: New roundabouts open in Rome and Pordenone
In Rome, a new roundabout has opened at the intersection of via Braccianese and via Anguillarese in Osteria Nuova. Completed by Anas as part of a Jubilee-related agreement with Roma Capitale and Città Metropolitana, the project aims to improve safety and visibility in a high-traffic area. This is the first of two planned roundabouts on the S.P. 493, with a second one currently under construction nearby to manage vehicle flows and reduce speeds entering the urban area.
In Pordenone, the opening of a new roundabout connecting via Vial Rotto, Pontebbana, and via Montereale has caused immediate traffic issues. While intended to facilitate access to the new hospital hub and allow construction to move toward the emergency room entrance, the new one-way system on via Vial Rotto has seen motorists driving against traffic and parking illegally on sidewalks. Local authorities have requested increased police patrols to manage the chaos and ensure pedestrian safety near the construction sites.
