Infrastructure works cause road and water service disruptions in Turkey and Northern Cyprus

Ongoing infrastructure projects in Turkey and Northern Cyprus are causing localized disruptions to transportation and water services.

In Turkey, the General Directorate of Highways has reported multiple roadwork sites requiring controlled traffic flow. Key areas include lane closures on the TEM Highway in Kocaeli due to underpass and drainage works, and single-lane or controlled traffic on the Van-Hakkari, Trabzon-Rize, and Kayseri-Nevşehir routes. Additionally, traffic is being diverted to service roads on the Izmir Ring Road and sections of the Antalya-Adana routes.

In Northern Cyprus, road construction on the Girne–Değirmenlik Mountain Road led to an accidental excavation that damaged the Arapköy Reservoir transmission line and a fiber optic cable. The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources stated that repairs are expected to take approximately seven days. The damage affects water supplies for several residential areas including Arapköy, Beşparmak, and Çatalköy, as well as military facilities and various tourist resorts. Authorities have advised citizens to use water sparingly during the repair period.
