Brazil infrastructure works and election measures cause traffic disruptions

Various infrastructure projects and social events across Brazil are causing significant traffic disruptions and service changes.

In the state of São Paulo, the Padre Manoel da Nóbrega highway in Itanhaém is undergoing major construction for a new elevated structure, with specific U-turn closures expected to last until October 2027. Meanwhile, the Via Dutra is seeing temporary closures in Barra Mansa and rock removal operations in the Serra das Araras region.

In Mato Grosso and Goiás, roadworks are widespread. The BR-364 near Várzea Grande is facing total closure for bridge installation, while the Goinfra agency reports asphalt recovery works across 20 municipalities in Goiás. In Mato Grosso, the BR-163 is undergoing urban improvements in Lucas do Rio Verde.

Urban centers are also affected. Campo Grande is managing multiple road closures due to social, religious, and agricultural events, alongside pothole repair programs. In Cuiabá, election-related security measures are causing lane closures on Avenida do CPA.

Public services are adjusting for the 2026 elections. In Campo Grande and Belo Horizonte, municipal bus services will be free of charge to facilitate voter movement, with reinforced schedules to match weekday frequencies.
