Infrastructure works cause traffic disruptions in Patras and Thessaloniki

Authorities in Greece have issued updates regarding various infrastructure works and traffic disruptions. In Patras, the Region of Western Greece clarified that recent outages of traffic lights are largely due to scheduled works by private contractors. These projects, which include the development of natural gas and fiber optic networks, require prior authorization and temporary signal shutdowns to ensure worker safety.

In Thessaloniki, a total closure of the Thessaloniki Ring Road is scheduled between the Evkarpia and Meteora junctions. The closure will occur from 23:00 on Wednesday to 05:00 the following morning to facilitate maintenance works. Drivers traveling toward Chalkidiki/Airport will be diverted via the Sklavenitis exit, while those heading toward Kavala/Katerini will be redirected through Papandreou and Papanikolaou avenues.

Additionally, the Technical Works Directorate of the Region of Central Macedonia will conduct repairs on manhole covers on the Thessaloniki–Nea Moudania National Road between September 9 and September 10, 2026.
