Infrastructure works cause transport disruptions in Australia and UK

Infrastructure projects in Australia and the United Kingdom are causing temporary transport disruptions.

In West Ryde, Sydney, Hermitage Road at Parkes Street will close from September 2 to September 8, 2026, for Sydney Water pipeline works. This closure will result in temporary bus service diversions and stop changes for several Busways services, including Route 501 and various school bus routes such as 593w, 600w, 620w, 630w, 633w, 780w, and 785w.

In the United Kingdom, Ryde Pier will undergo a four-day closure from September 25 to September 28. Foot passenger walkways and vehicle lanes will be suspended to allow for the installation of a new electrical cable at the Pier Head. While access to the Wightlink Fastcat service via the pier will be unavailable, passengers can reach the Pier Head using Island Line trains. Wightlink has advised vehicle owners to review guidance regarding parked cars at the pier ahead of the works.
