ING denounced by Facua over disputed credit card promotion
The consumer rights organization Facua has filed a complaint against ING before the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption, and 2030 Agenda. The dispute arises from the bank's failure to honor a 10% cashback promotion on credit card purchases of 100 euros or more, which was initially communicated to customers via email with a validity period through August 28.
After initially claiming an “operational incident” and stating the promotion was not active, ING later announced it would apply the discount but unilaterally shortened the validity period to August 14. Facua argues that the bank must respect the original terms, citing legal protections that prevent companies from modifying promotional conditions to the detriment of consumers who relied on the initial offer.
