ING Deutschland faces fake job posting and upcoming subscription model shift
ING Deutschland is facing two distinct developments regarding its operations and digital security.
A fraudulent job advertisement for a ‘Group Chief Executive Officer’ appeared on the bank’s official LinkedIn account for several hours. The post, which attracted 25 applicants, used a non-existent job title, as the current CEO Lars Stoy holds the title of ‘Chief Executive Officer’ without the ‘Group’ designation. ING reported the post as abusive, and it was removed shortly after. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the post was created by an employee or if an account was compromised. LinkedIn stated it found no evidence of fraud on its platform, suggesting the issue was internal.
Separately, ING is preparing to overhaul its retail banking services by replacing its current free account system with four subscription-based models: ING Go, ING More, ING Extra, and ING Max. These tiers, which have already been introduced in countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, and Romania, bundle banking with services such as insurance, travel benefits, and digital subscriptions like Disney+. Lars Stoy indicated that the rollout in Germany is expected to begin in mid-2027.
