ING lifts German savings‑account rate to 3.75% for new checking customers

ING announced a promotional interest rate of 3.75% per year on its Extra savings account for the first four months, applicable to balances up to €250,000. The rate is granted only when a new customer opens a Girokonto (checking account) together with the Extra account.

Customers who have not been ING clients in the previous twelve months qualify. The standard rate after the promotional period reverts to a variable 0.75% annually. The checking account is free for persons under 28 or with monthly deposits of at least €1,000; otherwise a €4.90 monthly fee applies. The alternative stand‑alone Extra account continues to offer a 3.20% rate for four months.
