Ingamark develops eucalyptus-based alternatives to plastic food packaging

The Galician company Ingamark has introduced a new line of food packaging designed to replace plastic using eucalyptus pulp. The product range, presented at the Conxemar fair, includes eucalyptus pulp trays and transparent vegetable films.

According to company executives, the new materials address common failures in compostable packaging by offering resistance to moisture and compatibility with heat-sealing processes. Commercial director José Manuel Caballero stated that the company has managed to match the price of plastic, and in some formats, has even improved upon it.

Ingamark currently supplies more than half of the food packaging companies in Galicia. CEO Julián Gallego Rodríguez described the development as a revolution for the sector, noting that a sustainable alternative only succeeds when it maintains technical performance and price parity with traditional plastics.
