Ingka Group appoints Erika Intiso as Chief Sustainability Officer

Ingka Group, the largest retailer for IKEA, has announced that Erika Intiso will become its new Chief Sustainability Officer, effective November 15, 2026. Intiso succeeds Karen Pflug, who has held the position since August 2021 and will remain with the company until the end of 2026 to assist with the leadership transition.

Intiso, who most recently served as the Country Retail Manager for IKEA in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia, will report to Ulrika Biesèrt, the Group People, Sustainability, and Communication Manager. Her role will focus on integrating sustainability into commercial strategies, including circular business models, renewable energy, and operational efficiency.

Under Pflug’s tenure, Ingka Group reduced absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 70.6% compared to FY16 levels and matched 94.8% of its electricity consumption with renewable sources in FY25. The company aims to continue positioning sustainability as a core driver of business growth and operational performance.
