Ingo Grüneberg Completes Six World Marathon Majors, Prepares for 50th Marathon

Ingo Grüneberg, a 59‑year‑old runner from Dortmund, has finished all six World Marathon Majors – Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York and Tokyo – earning the exclusive Six‑Star Medal. The achievement marks his 49th marathon, with his 50th race scheduled for August, and reflects 25 years of daily training, including 10‑kilometre runs in winter conditions. Grüneberg’s sister, Anja Röstl, often accompanies him on his marathon trips.

Separately, 26‑year‑old Ali Cinar founded the Running Club Bocholt in 2025 to motivate young adults in the region to take up regular sport. The club offers a relaxed, inclusive environment that welcomes anyone interested in running.

Both stories highlight a growing enthusiasm for long‑distance running in Germany, from grassroots community clubs to elite marathon participation.
