Ingo Zamperoni warns of Trump’s political pull on 2026 World Cup

In the film Zamperoni, who lives in the United States with his German‑American family, investigates whether President Donald Trump will turn the tournament into a political platform, noting that "sport and politics are hardly separable" and that the US president has already used major sporting events such as the Super Bowl and NASCAR to promote his image.

Zamperoni points to the heightened polarization in the United States, the provocative stance of Trump toward Canada and Mexico, and the fact that the three host nations have never before faced a World Cup with such politically charged dynamics.
