Iniciativa Liberal seeks urgent hearing for Minister Luís Neves

The political party Iniciativa Liberal has requested an urgent parliamentary hearing for the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, and the dismissed Secretary-General of the Ministry, Ricardo Carrilho.

The request follows reports of serious disagreements between the Minister and the Secretary-General regarding the oversight, operation, and financing of the Integrated Emergency and Security Networks System of Portugal (SIRESP). According to reports, the Secretary-General allegedly refused to validate annual compensatory transfers of approximately 26 million euros, citing insufficient control mechanisms and a lack of independent performance verification for SIRESP, S.A.

Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding the contractual framework of payments following the expiration of the public service contract in 2021. While the Ministry of Internal Administration maintains that its decisions are supported by legal opinions and monitoring instruments, the political group argues that the timing of the dismissal and the nature of the reported alerts necessitate parliamentary clarification.
