Iniesta approves 10 million euro flood prevention project
The Iniesta City Council has unanimously approved an update to the municipal asset inventory, establishing a net municipal patrimony of 26,988,331 euros after deducting outstanding credit obligations.
A major highlight of the plenary session is the completion of an integral hydraulic project coordinated with the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation. This plan involves more than ten million euros for the construction of containment dikes, lamination basins, and the expansion of upstream irrigation channels. This initiative serves as a definitive hydraulic defense strategy following severe flooding events in September 2021 and the 2023 DANA storm.
Other approved measures include setting the 2027 local holidays for February 4 (Jueves Lardero) and August 25 (Feria). The council also confirmed various local investments, such as the second phase of a senior center, improvements to the football field, and the deployment of recycling containers in Alcahozo and Casas de Juan Fernández.
