Initiative for Democratic Socialism founded in Novi Sad

The Initiative for Democratic Socialism (IDS) has been officially established during a founding assembly in Novi Sad. The organization is a coalition formed by the political platform Solidarnost and the informal civic group Borba je obaveza.

In its first political move, the IDS assembly unanimously adopted a declaration to support the student movement and the electoral list ‘Studentska lista – Studenti pobeđuju’. The group also passed a declaration regarding the inalienability of public goods, aiming to protect them for the community.

The IDS describes itself as a democratic left organization focused on labor rights, access to public services such as education and healthcare, and the guarantee of housing rights. The leadership includes co-presidents Melanija Lojpur and Radivoje Jovović, with Miloš Baković Jadžić and Sanja Vojinović serving as vice co-presidents.
