Injective integrates onchain options for AI compute and commodities
Injective has launched a modular options protocol on its testnet, introducing fully collateralized call and put options across six primary markets. The new infrastructure allows for the trading of derivatives tied to both traditional assets and crypto-native sectors.
The initial testnet markets include synthetic derivatives for the S&P 500, the Nasdaq 100, gold, silver, and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil. Additionally, the protocol features the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), which tracks the hourly rental costs of various Nvidia GPUs, including the H100, B200, H200, A100, and RTX 4090.
To mitigate risks associated with conventional derivatives, Injective utilizes a fully collateralized structure where every option is backed by native USDC. This design aims to eliminate margin calls and liquidation risks for option writers by requiring the maximum potential payout to be locked on-chain at the time the contract is written. While SICI perpetual markets are currently live on the mainnet, the options protocol remains in the testnet phase.
