Injuries reported in separate Dutch football incidents
Two separate incidents involving player injuries occurred during football matches in the Netherlands.
At BVV Barendrecht, a fight broke out during an internal 35+ competition match at De Bongerd sports park. Following a heated duel, a player from the 'Van Zwitserland' team struck an opponent, resulting in the victim suffering a double jaw fracture. Police and ambulance services attended the scene. BVV Barendrecht chairman Frank van Beuningen stated the board will meet to discuss the incident and potential measures after gathering more facts.
In a separate event during a match between RBC and VV Gemert in Roosendaal, Gemert defender Lex van Dijk lost consciousness following an aerial duel. Due to poor weather conditions preventing a trauma helicopter deployment, he was transported by ambulance to Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. VV Gemert chairman Carlo Hazenveld reported that while the player is experiencing significant headaches, he is conscious and it is expected he will recover without permanent injury.
