Injuries reported on Brazil's BR-356 and BR-470 after separate traffic accidents

A motorcyclist in his 40s was injured on the Eduardo Gomes Moretzsohn viaduct of BR‑356 near Itabirito, Minas Gerais, after his bike hit a pothole on the road edge. He suffered a fractured arm and other abrasions and was taken to a local UPA. The accident revived criticism of the viaduct’s surface, with users citing uneven pavement, deep channels and damaged metal barriers. Earlier inspections by the National Department of Infrastructure (DNIT) had found no structural risk, but the condition of the road remains a concern for motorists.

In a separate incident on BR‑470 near km 38 in Gaspar, an 18‑year‑old driver of a red Fiat Strada collided with the rear of a Scania tractor‑trailer. He was left conscious but disoriented, with injuries to his face and left arm and a suspected fracture. After on‑site first aid, he was transported to the Gaspar emergency department. The truck driver, a 55‑year‑old man, was unharmed. Emergency services and the Federal Highway Police managed traffic flow and safety at the scene.
