Injury at Santa Paula Punch Bowls Highlights Dangers of Natural Waterslide

A woman was captured in a viral video sliding down the natural waterslide at Santa Paula Punch Bowls in Ventura County, Southern California. She lost control, struck jagged rocks multiple times, and came to a stop in the pool below while onlookers watched.

The site, located within Los Padres National Forest, is known for its slick granite chute and a history of serious accidents, including a fatal fall weeks earlier. Local authorities have repeatedly warned that the smooth granite becomes dangerously slippery when wet, that hidden rocks, swift currents, and steep cliffs pose severe hazards, and that rescues are difficult due to the narrow canyon. Officials continue to urge visitors to avoid risky activities such as cliff jumping and sliding down the natural waterslide.
