Inkatha Freedom Party unveils eThekwini manifesto

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has unveiled its manifesto for the eThekwini Municipality ahead of the local government elections in Durban. During the launch, party leader Velenkosini Hlabisa identified providing accommodation for flood victims as a top priority. He emphasized the need to align public infrastructure and disaster management to better mitigate the impacts of climate change, particularly for residents in informal settlements.

Mkhuleko Hlengwa, the IFP mayoral candidate for eThekwini, stated that the party intends to address illegal immigration at the municipal level. While acknowledging that municipalities do not handle deportations directly, Hlengwa argued that the current immigration crisis requires local intervention. He pledged to work with other government stakeholders to tackle illegal immigration, human trafficking, and drug use to protect the local economy and the safety of residents.
