Inkblood developers emphasize psychological tension at Gamescom
During Gamescom, developers shared insights into the upcoming game Inkblood, emphasizing a focus on psychological tension over traditional jump scares. Game director Petr Skornok described the experience as a ‘cozy horror’ where a sense of unease and mystery builds progressively throughout the story, aiming to make players feel as though the ‘rug is being pulled from under their feet.’
Art director Natalie Konec noted that while the visual style is dark and potentially unsettling, the team maintains consistency to avoid excessive grotesqueness. This design approach allows them to strategically break rules for unexpected narrative twists and build tension effectively through intentional design choices.
