Inland Terminals Group deploys electric reachstacker in the Netherlands

Inland Terminals Group (ITG) and BCTN are expanding the electrification of their container handling operations through the deployment of a battery-electric Hyster reachstacker. The machine, the Hyster RSJ46-33XDL, will be utilized at Terminal ITG Venray-Wanssum in the Netherlands.

Starting in August 2026, the deployment will begin a 24-month field development period to validate the technology in real-world terminal operations. The reachstacker is powered by four 130-kilowatt lithium-ion battery packs designed to support a full 8-hour shift. When using appropriate charging equipment, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in approximately 4.5 hours.

This move is part of a broader effort by BCTN and ITG to reduce diesel usage and lower emissions within inland container transport. ITG has previously been recognized for sustainability efforts, being the first inland terminal operator in the Netherlands and Belgium to earn a third Lean & Green Star certification.
