Inmate attempts escape at Manoel Neri da Silva Prison

An inmate identified as a high-ranking member of a criminal organization was caught attempting to escape from the Manoel Neri da Silva Prison in Cruzeiro do Sul. The individual, who had previously escaped and been recaptured, was held in a high-security area. Despite increased surveillance, the prisoner used a piece of iron to attempt to damage the cell wall and create a hole.

Prison authorities intercepted the attempt after noticing unusual noises and deviations from the unit's routine. The inmate faces charges for damaging public property. Prison director Elvis Barros noted the difficulty of preventing inmates from accessing structural elements of their cells, emphasizing that the prevention was successful due to the experience of the penal officers.
