Inmate recaptured in Campeche after escaping prison

Cristóbal C. E., known as ‘El Abuelo’, was recaptured in the historic center of Campeche after escaping from the San Francisco Kobén prison. The escape was discovered during a morning roll call when the inmate was found missing.

The individual, who was facing legal proceedings for the corruption of a minor, was located seven hours after the initial report. Following the incident, the State Attorney General's Office of Campeche (FGECAM) launched an investigation to determine if there was any complicity or omission by prison authorities or staff.
