Innlandet mayors criticize Norwegian state budget and power grid capacity
Mayors from the Nord-Gudbrandsdal region in Innlandet have raised concerns regarding the 2027 state budget, characterizing it as a plan for centralization rather than transition. They argue that cuts to health and care services, along with dental health funding, create uncertainty for local municipalities. Additionally, the mayors highlighted potential closures of family counseling offices in Otta, Tynset, Lillehammer, and Kongsvinger, noting that moving these services to Gjøvik would place a significant burden on rural families.
Separately, local political leaders emphasized the need for improved power grid capacity to support economic growth in Innlandet. The region has been selected to pilot a national program for faster grid planning, involving cooperation between the county, municipalities, Statnett, and regional grid companies. This initiative aims to prevent grid bottlenecks from stalling business investments and job creation.
