InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin showcases new rail component technologies

At the InnoTrans 2026 trade fair in Berlin (22‑25 September), bearing specialist SKF unveiled a high‑speed wheelset bearing that uses a hybrid ceramic rolling unit with silicon‑nitride elements. The design cuts bearing mass by 15‑20 % and reduces friction by at least ten percent, while extending grease life and maintenance intervals. SKF also presented a new cylinder‑roller bearing for train gearboxes that features a lightweight PEEK cage, and an intelligent Lincoln Progressive Lubrication Pump for modular lubrication.

Sensor manufacturer FSG displayed its SL00‑R and SL‑A rope‑pull sensor families, offering flexible mounting, long measurement ranges (up to 7 m for SL00‑R and 8 m for SL‑A) and high accuracy for special‑vehicle applications. A prototype LED signal column with CAN‑bus connectivity was also shown, intended to transmit optical warnings and status messages for autonomous machines.
