Innova Schools measures 2025 carbon footprint

Innova Schools has completed its carbon footprint measurement for the 2025 base year, establishing a baseline to track emission evolution and identify primary environmental impacts. Conducted under ISO 14064-1:2018 guidelines, the study determined a total footprint of 605,845 tons of CO2 equivalent per year (tCO2e/year).

A key finding of the analysis is that approximately 90% of the institution's emissions are attributed to the mobility of students and staff. This data will allow the organization to prioritize mitigation actions in transportation and move toward data-driven environmental management. The measurement included operations from administrative offices in Cumbayá and school campuses in Calderón and Quitumbe, accounting for electricity consumption, emergency generator fuel, CO2 extinguisher refills, waste generation, and commuting.

This study serves as a preliminary step for the institution to apply for the Ecuador Carbon Zero Program (PECC), a national initiative aimed at strengthening emission reduction management. The results will undergo external verification to validate the methodology and quantification report.
