Innsbruck hosts meeting on autonomy and European cohesion

In Innsbruck, leaders gathered to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the special autonomy of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. The event, held at the Hofburg, focused on how regional autonomy can serve as a driver for European cohesion and economic growth.

Participants included Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, the President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Arno Kompatscher, and the Captain of Tyrol Anton Mattle. Maurizio Fugatti, President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, also attended, emphasizing autonomy as a responsibility toward both the territory and the community. The meeting featured heads of state and representatives from Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Switzerland, alongside regional leaders from Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Trentino, to discuss the value of cross-border cooperation within the Euregio framework.
