Innsbruck Opens New Social House for Women and Children

A new ‘Social House’ opened in Innsbruck, Austria, bringing together the Tiroler Kinder‑ und Jugend GmbH and the non‑profit organisation lilawohnt under one roof. The facility offers counseling, residential units and youth support services on more than 2,500 m².

It provides ten housing units for women—four for mothers with children and six for single women—including two barrier‑free apartments, a communal lounge, a children’s playroom and a garden. The Tiroler Kinder‑ und Jugend GmbH runs three youth group homes for up to 24 adolescents. About 40 staff members support the services. The project was financed jointly by the city of Innsbruck, the Innsbruck Immobilien Gesellschaft and the Tyrolean state, which contributed €540,000 for the lilawohnt component. Officials present at the opening included Social State Councilor Eva Pawlata (SPÖ), lilawohnt managing director Julia Schratz and Elke Luwitsch of the Tiroler Kinder‑ und Jugend GmbH.
