Inobiostar launches pilot production of oil pollution cleanup technology

In Klaipėda, Lithuania, a new pilot production line for ‘InnoAerogel®’ has been launched by Inobiostar, a spin-off from Klaipėda University. This next-generation technology uses recycled paper to absorb oil products, utilizing marine microorganisms to assist in the decomposition process.

The transition from laboratory-scale production to a pilot line allows for the manufacturing of hundreds of kilograms, moving the technology toward market readiness. Inobiostar, led by founder Dr. Tatjana Paulauskienė, aims to scale this deep tech solution globally to address oil pollution in oceans and seas.

Klaipėda University, Inobiostar, and the Klaipėda State Seaport Directorate have signed an agreement to test the technology within the port. This collaboration will evaluate the effectiveness of InnoAerogel® in preventing and liquidating oil pollution in real-world operational conditions.
