INOTA Festival at Chernobyl launches with composer Sam Slater

British composer Sam Slater, known for his work on the Joker films and the Battlefield 2042 video game, opened the INOTA Festival held at the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant. His performance was staged in the Turbina Hall, where the industrial architecture is integral to the audiovisual experience.

The festival, running from 13 to 24 August, continues to repurpose the abandoned site with a programme that mixes techno, ambient, experimental electronic music and light art. Organizer Bérczes László explained that the event’s sustainability relies on keeping the scale modest, preserving its community‑focused character and avoiding the loss of intimacy that larger growth could bring.
