Inovapro launches €17 million biogas plant in Čaporice, Croatia

In the Čaporice business zone near Trilj, the company Inovapro d.o.o. inaugurated an innovative biogas facility, the first in Croatia to use dry anaerobic digestion in sealed tunnel fermenters. The plant processes about 13 000 t of organic waste each year, converting it into electricity, heat and high‑quality organic fertilizer, while employing a closed‑loop bio‑filter system to control odors.

The investment amounts to €17.35 million, of which €13.1 million is financed by European Union funds. It is the first phase of the larger Energy Park Čaporice, a €50‑60 million project that will later add solar farms, battery storage and a green AI data centre. Minister of Environment and Green Transition Marija Vučković attended the opening and highlighted the project’s role in expanding Croatia’s capacity to treat separately collected bio‑waste, reducing landfill emissions and supporting circular‑economy goals. Inovapro aims to replace mineral fertilizers with the plant’s organic digestate and to showcase that advanced renewable‑energy projects can be realised in the Dalmatian hinterland.
