InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska criticizes Meta's low tax payments in Poland
InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska has criticized the low corporate income tax (CIT) paid by major technology companies in Poland, specifically targeting Meta's subsidiary, Facebook Poland. Brzoska highlighted that Facebook Poland paid only 0.55% of its revenue in CIT, whereas InPost paid 6.9% of its revenue in tax.
Brzoska also raised concerns regarding the financial impact of fraudulent activities on Meta's platforms. Citing an Instrat Foundation report, he noted that approximately 760 million PLN—roughly 37% of Meta's 2 billion PLN revenue in Poland—is estimated to stem from scams. He further referenced National Bank of Poland data suggesting that losses from financial fraud scams could reach 1 billion PLN by 2026.
In response to these issues, Polish politicians are considering legislative action. MP Rafał Komarewicz announced plans to convene the Economy and Development Committee to discuss measures forcing large tech firms to pay fairer taxes. Additionally, Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz advocated for the swift introduction of a digital tax in Poland to ensure American companies contribute equitably to the local economy.
