INPS presents AI strategy to transform public administration data
At the Digital Innovation Forum in Cernobbio, the Italian National Social Security Institute (INPS) presented its strategy for digital transformation and artificial intelligence. Massimiliano D’Angelo, Central Director of Technology, Informatics, and Innovation at INPS, emphasized that the primary challenge is not merely adopting AI, but governing the knowledge upon which these systems are built.
INPS aims to transform the information assets of the Public Administration into a reliable, standardized, and shared ‘super-knowledge’ to improve public services. A key component of this strategy is Aiwelfare, an Italian generative AI platform. Rather than acting as a simple chatbot, Aiwelfare is designed as a sovereign AI ecosystem specialized in Italian welfare. It utilizes open Italian and European models that are progressively trained on social security and assistance data to provide transparent and sustainable services.
