INPS strengthens agricultural labor monitoring in Italy

Antonio Pone, central director of INPS Entrate and President of the Steering Committee for the Quality Agricultural Labor Network, has outlined a strategy to enhance labor inspections through integrated database analysis and risk indicators. Speaking at a CISL roundtable regarding the ten-year anniversary of anti-caporalato legislation, Pone highlighted the effectiveness of targeted programming to concentrate resources on areas most exposed to irregularities.

In July 2026, a centrally coordinated task force involving regional directorates and the Carabinieri conducted extraordinary inspections in specific areas of Southern Italy. This approach utilized integrated INPS database analysis to identify potential irregularities.

As of September 30, 2026, 13,136 companies have been admitted to the Quality Agricultural Labor Network. Pone described the network as a public tool for qualification and transparency designed to support legal production models and social responsibility. The network is intended to serve as a competitive factor for virtuous enterprises and a qualifying element for Made in Italy agri-food supply chains, aided by incentive mechanisms linked to national and regional funding.
