Insecurity rises in Emiliano Zapata municipality

Residents of La Pradera, located in the municipality of Emiliano Zapata, are reporting a surge in robberies and violent incidents. A recent robbery at Plaza Álamos involved a group of young individuals who reportedly fled toward the Lavanda turnaround, an area where they are believed to reside. During their escape, the suspects allegedly threw stones at bystanders in the high-traffic area.

Local citizens have expressed frustration over the perceived lack of municipal police presence and the absence of regular patrols. Residents noted that a previous administration maintained a police module in the Lomas de Pradera neighborhood, but this was removed early in the current administration under Mayor Daniel Baizabal. Due to the delayed response from local authorities, community members are beginning to organize themselves to address the security concerns.
