The studio confirmed that the sword-wielding villain featured in the launch trailer is Lady Deathstrike, rather than Psylocke, as some fans had speculated due to the character's use of a purple energy blade.

Additionally, the studio addressed viral claims suggesting that the character's motion capture was performed by women. Investigations into the footage show that the viral clip actually depicts a YouTuber participating in a studio visit and testing the motion capture stage, rather than being official production footage. Australian actor Liam McIntyre is credited with providing the voice, facial motion, and motion capture for Wolverine, with male stuntmen reportedly contributing to specific physical action scenes.
