Marvel's Wolverine details revealed for PS5 launch
Insomniac Games has revealed extensive technical and narrative details for Marvel’s Wolverine, scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. A major technical highlight is the confirmation that the game will feature a standard performance mode offering 60 FPS with ray tracing on the base PlayStation 5 console, a departure from previous titles where such combinations were often added later in development.
Narratively, the game will focus exclusively on Logan as the sole playable character, moving away from the multi-character mechanics seen in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series. The story is set in a period before the X-Men were officially formed, focusing on Logan’s time with Team X. While characters like Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sabretooth appear, the X-Men as a group do not exist in this universe. The plot follows Logan as he attempts to uncover the mysteries of his past and his adamantium-laced skeleton.
Gameplay features include a New Game Plus mode available immediately at launch, allowing players to retain equipment and progression. The game will also feature Nightmare Doors—optional challenges based on Logan’s psyche—and various collectible items like whiskey bottles and materials to unlock new suits. The setting will include diverse environments such as the Canadian wilderness and Madripoor, featuring highly detailed, destructible vegetation and scenery.
