Insomniac Games denies AI use in Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac Games has addressed multiple controversies surrounding the release of Marvel’s Wolverine on PlayStation 5. Following viral social media posts showing distorted restroom signage, the studio’s Community and Marketing Director, James Stevenson, denied claims that generative AI was used to create game assets. He clarified that the visual anomaly was a “UV map bug” and confirmed that a fix is being prepared.
Additionally, the studio released hotfix v1.001.005 to address player feedback regarding gameplay mechanics. The update reduces the opacity and intensity of “Scent Trails” and Audio Sense indicators, which many players found visually distracting. Insomniac stated they are exploring the possibility of adding toggleable options for these sensory features in future updates.
The game has also faced criticism regarding its difficulty and narrative direction. Some players have expressed dissatisfaction with the perceived ease of gameplay and the involvement of narrative consultancy firm Sweet Baby Inc., which is credited in the game for story and cultural consulting roles.
