Inspector Dhananjaya faces scrutiny over past assault and rape allegations

Allegations of systemic misconduct and violence have resurfaced against Inspector Dhananjaya of the T. Narasipura police station in Mysuru. Following recent threats made by the officer toward youth involved in Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, old records of his alleged brutality have gone viral on social media.

Reports indicate that in September of last year, Dhananjaya allegedly summoned four Dalit youths to the station under the guise of an inquiry regarding a domestic dispute and assaulted them using cricket bats, wickets, and wooden pieces. Images of these weapons, including a specially manufactured wide belt-style bat used for assaults, have circulated online. At the time, the victims filed complaints with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and various progressive organizations staged protests.

Furthermore, past criminal allegations against the officer have emerged, including a 2014 rape case filed in a Delhi court involving a model while he was serving as a sub-inspector in Bengaluru. Despite these serious allegations and a previous transfer order to the Mysuru South station, it is reported that Dhananjaya successfully had his transfer canceled within 24 hours of the order being issued.
