Inspector who uncovered Jovanjica plantation reassigned from Criminal Police

Slobodan Milenković, the former head of the Anti-Drug Department and the police inspector who uncovered the ‘Jovanjica’ marijuana plantation, has been permanently reassigned from the Criminal Police Directorate. According to a statement from the Tomanović Law Office, which represents Milenković, the inspector was moved to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Information Technology Sector without factual or legal justification after nearly 20 years in criminal police work.

The law office claims that Milenković’s persistence in exposing the financial, legal, and organizational logistics behind the ‘Jovanjica’ project has triggered a coordinated media and political campaign aimed at his professional and personal degradation. This campaign has reportedly resulted in reassignments and threats to the lives of Milenković and fellow inspector Mitić, who currently require protection from special anti-terrorist units.

Legal representatives characterized the move as a ‘legal-political tremor by centers of power’ intended to undermine expertise and independence within state institutions. They noted that legal remedies will be pursued despite delays in the Administrative Court and the Constitutional Court, which have yet to rule on matters regarding his dismissal and the state's responsibility for his safety.
